THE GROVE CHAPEL

Much like the Sentinels who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Solder at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C., the Grove Chapel has served as the steadfast sentinel of the Grove Cemetery since its construction was completed in 1896. This architecturally interesting and unique structure is a powerful and touching symbol of respect and dignity, a beacon watching over and honoring the generations of our families, friends, and neighbors who have been laid to rest. Over the last 130 years, the Grove Chapel has been a special memory for so many area families who gathered inside its walls to welcome home a son or daughter who made the ultimate sacrifice in our nation's wars or paid their final respects to loved ones after a life well-lived. The Grove Chapel is an integral part of Hardin County history, a testament to the strength, resolve, and values of its people, and a precious gift to be passed down to future generations. It is imperative that the Grove Chapel be rescued and restored for all these reasons and more. It is our mission to do just that and with your support, we will.

We invite you to explore this website to learn more about the Grove Chapel, see why it is so special, review a partial list of funeral services held at the Chapel over the last century for military service members, including Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients Jacob Parrott and D.J. Morey, as well as area citizens, the committee members who are volunteering their time and talents to fulfill the rescue and restoration mission, and how you can contribute to this most worthwhile cause. Thank you for visiting and your support.

PRICELESS ARCHITECTURE & CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Grove Chapel is unlike any other. It's gothic architecture design was built by a skillful and talented team of craftsmen, stonemasons, and artists from our community. They created a beautiful building featuring intricate stone carvings, masterful wood carvings, and dazzling stained glass windows in an array of colors that transform with the changing sunlight.
