The Grove Cemetery Chapel, built in 1895-1896 by John Burkhart, the same visionary who constructed the Hardin County Armory, holds a unique and profound history. Decades ago, an amazing team saved the Armory through the leadership of Ed Rogers, a young man at the time, and today, we draw inspiration from that rescue to preserve the Chapel. This building is not just bricks and mortar; it is a guardian of memories, a witness to history, and a sanctuary for countless individuals in their times of need.

The Chapel has touched the lives of many in Kenton and beyond. It has stood as a steadfast guardian for over a century, sheltering those awaiting their final resting place. It has comforted grieving families and friends, serving as a space for reflection and solace during profound sorrow. During World War I, the Chapel played a vital role, holding the remains of service members arriving by train to Kenton before they were transported by horse and buggy to funeral homes in their home counties, whether in Wyandot, Hancock, or elsewhere. It has been a beacon of hope, standing strong through some of the most challenging times, including the pandemics of 1919 and 2020.

This Chapel has borne witness to history, honoring soldiers and sailors who made the ultimate sacrifice, providing a place of healing after the Civil War, and serving as a solemn space during times of war and peace. It has seen Kenton's significant businesspeople, beloved community members, and everyday citizens alike pass through its walls, standing as a silent yet powerful reminder of resilience, faith, and unity.

To many, the Chapel is more than just a building; it symbolizes enduring hope. It has been there for the people of Kenton and surrounding areas in their most difficult times, offering solace and strength when needed. Preserving this historical gem is not just about safeguarding a structure, it is about honoring the countless stories and lives it has touched.

Thank you for helping us protect and preserve this incredible piece of history. Together, we can ensure the Grove Cemetery Chapel remains a beacon of hope and comfort for the future.
